The Potter's Farm was founded by Chad Hansen and his wife Jenny Hansen in Loganville, Georgia, and is joined in its giving by Chad's father, Don Hansen.
Chad spent his career in healthcare operations, managing the systems that get people the care they need. Jenny spent more than twenty years in healthcare laboratory sales and service — the work of getting equipment specified, delivered, installed, and kept running in the field. It is, in miniature, the problem The Potter's Farm solves: matching the right equipment to the people who need it, and making sure it still works once it arrives.
Chad's father, Don Hansen, lends his name and his hand to the work. Don spent twelve seasons in the NFL — most of them at linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons — and the decades after in Georgia, running businesses and paying attention to the work of everyday people. He isn't in the day-to-day of the organization. He's here because he wanted to give alongside his son and daughter-in-law, and because a legacy is worth more when it's still doing something.
Chad and Jenny are both ordained ministers, and together they lead a home-based church and Bible study. The Potter's Farm grew directly out of that table. The desire was never to run a charity at arm's length. It was to love people the way ministry asks you to — by showing up with something useful in hand, for the family down the road and the farmer eight thousand miles away alike.
Among the three of them, one conviction: a working life produces surplus that ought to go somewhere useful. A pickup that still runs. A parcel that isn't being farmed. An evening a week that could be given. That's the thesis of The Potter's Farm.
As a personal thank-you, every donor to The Potter's Farm — regardless of gift size — receives an autographed 8″ × 10″ photograph from Don. Not as a gimmick. As a note from one Georgia family to another.
